So, understanding where your website traffic comes from is crucial for refining your marketing strategy. By analyzing yesterday’s traffic sources, you gain valuable insights into which channels are driving the most visitors and, more importantly, which ones are delivering the highest quality leads or conversions.

Start by reviewing your analytics dashboard—Google Analytics is a popular tool for this—and identify the top referrer for the day. This could be a search engine, social media platform, email campaign, or direct traffic.

Once you’ve pinpointed the top referrer, dig deeper into the data. Examine the behavior of the visitors from this source. Are they spending a lot of time on your site? Are they visiting multiple pages?

Are they converting into leads or sales? Understanding these metrics will help you assess the quality of the traffic and the effectiveness of the referrer. This analysis isn’t just about numbers; it’s about patterns.

If a particular source consistently drives valuable traffic, it’s a sign that your efforts in that channel are paying off, and you may want to allocate more resources to it. Conversely, if a referrer is bringing in traffic that doesn’t engage or convert, it might be time to reconsider your approach in that channel. Regularly analyzing your traffic sources allows you to make informed decisions, optimize your marketing efforts, and ultimately, drive better results.

Hey all,

I'm sure there was a post here on this a while ago but I couldn't find it. Anyway I was reading a thread on Reddit earlier all about it and the Google num=100 update has really hit Ahrefs hard, it seems.

Google quietly pulled the rug out from under a lot of third-party tools. Overnight, data that once looked “solid” now feels a bit soft underfoot!

It’s wild that multi-million dollar outfits like Ahrefs and SEMrush built their empires on scraping - something Google can (and clearly will) change whenever it feels like it. It’s a house of cards.

My web guy uses SEMrush daily. But we're not feeling confident with the data now and this Reddit thread seems to confirm what we're seeing! I'm starting to think only tools from Google are worth using. GSC, Analytics etc

DA was a decent estimated metric but I was never mad about it. We always see low DA domains on P1. It’s just funny that those those graphs were like gospel when they were really just… very pretty estimates.

If anything, the num=100 change was a good reminder not to put all your eggs in one basket.

But where does that leave us marketers whose life is data! lol

I like the idea. I already group keywords by landing page when planning content for my ecommerce brand, so this could be a nice shortcut. But it looks like there’s still no export option, which makes it hard to use beyond a quick glance.

I’m in the middle of buying a backlink and could use a gut check from you seasoned SEO pros - if you're not too busy dominating Google today ;-)

Here are my two options:

Option A - backlink from an article that has tons of high-quality backlinks pointing to it… but the page itself gets basically no traffic.

Option B - backlink from an article that doesn’t have many backlinks pointing at it, but it does pull in steady traffic every month.

Both placements would be natural, not shoehorned in like a spammy placement.

Which option do you trhink is better for SEO? I'm guessing there's many layers to the question!

I’m leaning one way, but honestly, I keep second-guessing myself.

Appreciate any insights!

So, if you use Canva on a regular basis, did you know it has an Accessibility Checker and can also generate your Alt Text? Why is this important anyway?

2314

Because search engines can’t “see” images, they rely on the same cues that make images accessible to people. Alt text tells crawlers what the image is about, which helps the page get matched to the right queries and show up in Google Images.

When an image is a link, the alt text can even act like anchor text, giving Google context about the destination. That’s a useful signal, not magic; it won’t catapult a weak page to the top, but it absolutely helps good content get correctly understood and discovered.

Accessibility also improves engagement signals that search engines watch. Clear, readable images with adequate color contrast and real text (not text baked into a JPG) keep people on the page longer, reduce pogo-sticking, and make content easier to skim and share.

Those human outcomes correlate with better SEO performance. If users bounce because your light-gray-on-pastel quote is unreadable, the algorithm doesn’t need a PhD to figure out the page isn’t working.

There’s a technical angle too. Accessible images tend to be well implemented: width/height attributes to prevent layout shift, responsive
srcset
for fast loads on mobile, and lazy-loading that respects user settings. Faster, more stable pages win on Core Web Vitals, which search engines use as ranking inputs. Accessibility nudges you toward performance hygiene that pays off in visibility.

One caveat: don’t keyword-stuff alt text. Describe the image’s purpose in the page context first, include natural language that matches what users would search for, and stop before it sounds like spam. Do that, keep contrast readable, and avoid hiding key copy inside graphics. You’ll make your site usable for more people and make it easier for search engines to reward you for it.

You don't need to do that for too long to make life-changing money!

Here's the story. Worth a read if you have 10 mins
