One of my posts asked a question about LinkedIn, perhaps on the wrong topic. Perhaps it got deleted? I could not find it anywhere. I was asking which LinkedIn to rewrite from my blog to LinkedIn. Is it the LinkedIn Pulse called "write article." or Post? I've been seeing some LinkedIn articles in the search engine results. I just need to know which one—post or article?

Thanks

Hey Blunt Brenda,

It's the "write an article" option that you want.

The "post" option is limited to 3,000 characters, so very similar to writing a Facebook or Twitter/X post.

Linkedin POSTS are more geared to engaging with your audience INSIDE LINKEDIN.

Therefore, if you are using "posts" your aim is to be "sociable" inside Linkedin.

BUT

I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT

I don't want to be "socialable" and spend an hour a day engaging with my Linkedin followers.

NO!!!

I want to take advantage of Linkedin's high domain authority to WRITE ARTICLES in order to rank in Google.

So essentially, you are treating the Linkedin "write an article" feature in exactly the same way as you do your own website, i.e. finding longtail keywords, writing articles, and being consistent in writing articles and publishing to Linkedin.

In effect, you're treating Linkedin as a "second website" in your niche.

However, due to Linkedin's high domain authority it is much easier to rank these articles in Google than it is for your own website.

Then if you have links going from your Linkedin articles to your website (let's say either your WA review or to sign up to your newsletter, you are using Linkedin's authority to rank in Google, and sending visitors to your website via a link.

So, as an example, let's say you write 30 articles on your website, due to your lack of domain authority, those articles could take months and months and months to rank, perhaps even years.

However, because of Linkedin's authority you'll find that (as long as your keyword research is pretty decent) placing those 30 articles on Linkedin could see those articles ranking in Google within a few weeks.

I've spoken in my latest post about also using backlinks to rank your Linkedin articles, and this is what a lot of marketers are doing.

You DON'T have to use the "backlinks method", but again your keyword research still needs to be fairly decent.

But, here is what a lot of marketers are currently doing:

Find a decent keyword

Write article on Linkedin

Wait about 7-10 days

If you're not ranking in the top 20 results, blast it with a load of backlinks, wait, and check again in 7-10 days.

If you are ranking in the top 20 results, but not in the top 3, blast it with some backlinks, slightly less than the above, and wait.

A very high percentage of articles like this are then ranking in the top 3 results of Google.

For an example, go to Google and type in

Top SEO Gurus on YouTube

The top 4 articles are all using this method of marketing - 2 results from Linkedin and 2 results from Medium

What they've done is listed "top SEOS", but then included THEMSELVES on that list and then they have a link going back to their website.

As I say, all you're doing is "using Linkedin's domain authority to rank your articles".

Here's a short video about using the Linkedin text editor, but if you've used SiteContent before it's very similar, so you can easily work it out.

Plus, here's an article I wrote for Lizzy and placed onto Linkedin so you can see what the finished product looks like:

Hi Brenda - if you click on your profile photo, at the top right, and then click Timeline, you can see everything you have done here, so you should be able to find your previous question.

@diane Hi Diane, it isn't there in the timeline. I think I posted something in Google 27 Points, but I don't see it there; it was on the topic of LinkedIn somewhere. I remember I posted something. I do not see it anywhere.

I am asking here. I saw your LinkedIn topic I read that.  If you have the answer, let me know.

Thanks 😀

Okay, thanks, PP. I will work on it this week. I feel better now that I have answers to these questions. Thanks for the helpful YouTube tutorial and the link to Lizzy's LinkedIn article. Awesome! 😀
