So, I came across a post from Sprout Social, which apparently reveals the best times to post your content on various platforms. Personally, I just space them out evenly, but I am going to give this a go, and see if it makes any difference. However, I suppose you do have to use the time zone where the majority of your traffic comes from!

I have summarised the post below, and if you want to read the full article, it is https://sproutsocial.com/insights/best-times-to-post-on-social-media/

📊 Key Insights

  • Sprout Social analysed engagement data from over 30,000 businesses to pinpoint optimal posting times across platforms

  • Overall best posting window: Mondays–Thursdays, 10 a.m.–1 p.m., with Wednesday marked as the highest engagement day; Sunday tends to be the lowest-performing day

  • Platform-specific breakdowns:

    • Facebook: Peak engagement generally between 9 a.m.–12 p.m., most weekdays; lower on weekends

    • Instagram: Best activity Mon–Thu between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., with some mid‑morning to afternoon extension; Saturdays perform worse

    • LinkedIn: Engagement highest Tue–Thu, roughly 10 a.m.–1 p.m.

    • Pinterest: Strongest performance at 1 p.m. every day, especially on weekdays

    • TikTok: Best on Wednesdays, 2–5 p.m., though weekdays from noon are generally effective

    • X (Twitter): Optimal engagement Tue–Thu, 9 a.m.–2 p.m.

    • YouTube: Best time consistently at 1 p.m. across most days, especially Mon–Thu

I feel like this is good for starting out. After you gain a following, I think you can use your analytics to get a better sense of what works personally for you. But I should run an experiment on our socials to see if there is any difference when we post stuff.

The other thing (especially in the large FB groups I run), it can be difficult to get any engagement on some posts, just because of how large and how many posts are going out each time. I know this probably isn't specific to FB groups, but you always need to make sure you're posting something that is actually going to pull readers in, not just doing the normal (and proverbial) 'throwing mud on the wall' routine. More saying this for myself, because I tend to do this, haha.

@andy I remember those days when I had a large FB group. Indeed, it is hard to get traction from groups, but it can be a good way to collect newsletter subscriptions. Or what was succesfull in my case, was posting something with bold collors and a bold background, asking people a question that your audience is very interested in. In my case, for example, that was asking something like 'do you buy your miniatures on 'Temu' ? That is a very sensitive topic in my niche lol. And then post something relevant, or leading to your website for ad income, in the COMMENT section, to avoid Facebook from (shadow) flagging your group (or page for that matter), as spamming.

@ohnoo_not_her I'm not sure if I ever tried that, but that's a good idea. I'll have to see how that works compared to the other things we're doing.
