What do y’all think of buying aged domains as a jump start to ranking?

Many people do this, and if you know what you are doing, it can work fairly well. Though your question is vague - are you buying an aged domain and building upon that domain, or are you redirecting it to your current site? Or something else completely different?

Chris Myles (Benji's Dad) had some training on WA about aged domains, but I believe he learned it all through Mushfiq Sarker (The Website Flip). Sarker has a lot of good content (both free and paid) that I would recommend you look through here.

@andy Either building one up or redirecting a current site to one. Haven’t seriously looked into it but I keep seeing others talking about it. Seems like gray/black hat techniques but still intrigues me. With backlinks being such a big factor in ranking, I feel like it’s going to take years and years to get anywhere with the way I’m going.

When first publishing, many posts would be on page 2 or 3 for a hot minute, but now reside on page 16 or worse. How do I compete against others using aged domains, publishing garbage content w the right on/off page SEO to rank and then add good content later, PBN’s, posting 400 pages at once, etc? It’s insane out there!

Hi - even if you are doing this with the best of intentions, do be aware that Google specifically mentions Expired Domain Abuse in its spam policies!

@diane I’m assuming most of these people are using black hat techniques and will get penalized at some point, but they sure seem optimistic on how well it works. Idk….
