So, this is interesting, a post that is currently ranked 27 on Google.

Not the first page obviously, but neither has it been "slapped down" by Google.

A 111-word product review, that is blatantly keyword stuffing, and not even trying to hide it!

And the reason it is ranking?

Because it's on Medium, of course!

Parasite SEO clearly works!

Simply put,

DOMAIN AUTHORITY (and backlinks) are CURRENTLY "the most important ranking factor" (even though Google told us recently THEY'RE NOT).

Another way to look at it:

If you put crap content on a low authority domain (e.g. YOUR WEBSITE) it won't rank

If you put high quality content on a low authority domain (e.g YOUR WEBSITE) it still won't rank (until your domain authority improves, typically achieved through backlinks).

HOWEVER

If you put "crap" or high quality" content on a HIGH authority domain (it really doesn't matter AT THE MOMENT) you have a FANTASTIC chance of RANKING (but, don't forget, if it's "crap quality", even though you are ranking well, not many users are likely tp read that content, never mind click through and make a purchase).

Will this all change?

Probably... EVENTUALLY!!

BUT

For now, take advantage of PUTTING YOUR CONTENT ON HIGH AUTHORITY WEBSITES and enjoy the rankings (plus, the vast array or backlinks you'll produce by linking these articles and other content on "high authority domains" to your own website)

PLUS

Getting traffic to your website from a variety of sources can also be viewed as a "ranking factor" (it's not really, but Google knows that REAL businesses and REAL brands will have a wide reach online, and therefore they look for traffic coming to these websites from OTHER SOURCES other than Google Organic Search - another way to look at it is if the MAJORITY of your traffic comes from GOOGLE ORGANIC SEARCH you're clearly "Writing For Search Engines, Not For Users", which Google doesn't want and will eventually punish - so, a "weird way" to look at all of this, if you have a website that regularly gets traffic from Facebook, Pinterest, TikTok, Medium, Linkedin, Twitter/X YouTube, it is likely that your GOOGLE ORGANIC RANKINGS WILL ALSO IMPROVE EVENTUALLY)

OR

You can keep placing content on your website, don't do anything else, and HOPE that these articles may eventually rank in Google in about 3-5 years time (please don't say "it's a marathon not a sprint", you do realise that even marathons have a cut-off time, after which non-finishers are NOT alowed to finish the race).

If you're a solopreneur (basically, doing everything yourself, not spending any money on outsourcing tasks, etc. be prepared to be doing this for years without earning a penny <--- Sound Familiar?)

Y'know ... it's quite eye-opening seeing some of the parallels with what's happening now compared to all those years ago when I was spamming Google with gibberish ... and ranking ... ha ha.

It's basically the same now but the AI content can be so good that G has little chance of keeping up ... they have limited resources.

But yeah ... back in the day it was THE FACT that the content was so poor and the only other option on the page was to click Adsense ... guess what, lots of people did!

Lol ... I just read that Medium review @diane ... laughable. I see a different Medium URL at #13 and it's the user's profile page! Keywords Everywhere is reporting 40.5k searches on that keyword ...

The only problem with this is that my Parasite SEO Product doesn't relate to my website. I Dont Know

Did I just make a boo-boo? I started a new niche to follow the "make a fake Medium Account", put a product up, and push play...

@mrdon Hey Don,

No, that's fine.

When I talk about "Medium" or Linkedin" here on the main forum, I'm talking in general, so it will generally relate to "parasiting" off Medium (or Linkedin) for website traffic.

However, when I talk about "Medium" and "Linkedin" inside the private Parasite SEO Group, I'm talking about unrelated product reviews, things that have nothing to do with your website, e.g. the parasite SEO course is your "side hustle" to make money from something that HAS NOTHING to do with your website.

I think another thing is, most people don't think BIG ENOUGH.

I mentioned in the Private parasite SEO chat yesterday that I currently have 4 Medium accounts.

TWO accounts are NICHE-SPECIFIC, include BOTH informational and commerical articles, and are mainly aimed at INCREASING TRAFFIC TO THOSE TWO NICHE WEBSITES.

I also have ANOTHER TWO MEDIUM ACCOUNTS that are solely for Parasite SEO.

They have mainly product reviews, in about 10 different niches, and when I found a product that I found quite interesting, I also wrote a few informational articles around that topic, and then linked to the main product reviews (but the Parasite SEO Medium accounts are mainly intended to get as many product reviews, in a variety of niches, written as possible).

The SECOND TWO MEDIUM ACCOUNTS are aimed at getting people to click on my affiliate links (in about 10 different niches) in order to make a purchase.

All it is, Medium is ranking extremely well at the moment (in fact, Medium can give you an inkling about how good your keyword research is. If you take what you think is a decent keyword, write an article around that keyword on Medium, if within about 3-4 weeks you can't find that article in at least the first 40 results, that keyword was MORE COMPETITIVE THAT YOU THIOUGHT<---also why I always say NOT to rely solely on keyword tool data, but rather, check Google search results with your own eyes), so take advantage of Medium, and use it for a variety of things.

So, have one Medium account that is niche specific and geared towards getting traffic to your website,

Start another Medium account solely based on the Parasite SEO Course.

Start another Medium account to TEST OUT A NEW NICHE BEFORE YOU START A WEBSITE (if you can't rank your articles on Medium, your new website is going to struggle to get off the ground).

Start another Medium account to do more product review Parasite SEO (you're experimenting, does Google seem to prefer one of your Medium accounts over the other?)

As I always say, most people who first come online DON'T THINK BIG ENOUGH (Yes, I can partly blame the "training" that most people have had over the last few years, i.e. make everything sound as easy as possible and as though everything is more or less done for you).

To give you an example, I've definitely written over 600 articles in a year BEFORE AI.

There are definitely people (now with AI) creating 3,000 articels a year WITHOUT coming across as a spammer (I'm sure there are people doing parasite SEO with 10 Medium accounts, 300 product reviews on each).

I don't say the above to put people off, but rather that you know what your "competition" is doing.

If you want it, prove it!! 😉
