@diane I think nobody knows any more lol. Still going up at the moment. the only reason I still login to gsc is to see if it mentions any 404 errors left, cause apparently I still haven't completely fixed that when switching a plugin. 🙂

I think he was always very interested in the way Google works, and can't imagine he just dropped everything like that, but who knows! (Partha, if you read this, sorry about all that happened and I hope all is ok!)
Anyways, you might have heard about the next Google updates (yeah they still do this lol), or not, which I get, because you know: Google isn't your friend hahaha, and most of us got scr**ed by them.
So I was doubting for a while to ask this, but are you 'suddenly' seeing traffic rising again in Google search console too? (that is, if you haven't sold your site after 2 years now, which I totally get)
I am carefully positive, the first days I was like: 'yeah, whatever'. But now the trend keeps growing. For over 6 months, I was constantly around 200 clicks per day (from Google allone), but since about 10 days now, it has almost doubled to 400 per day.
Anybody else seeing this?
Also, what could be a huge gamechanger for me, is that now, there's a new section in GSC where it mentions the particular for of 'search appearance', which includes forum discussions.
When I click on that, look what happened since July 2nd!
I had a chat with ChatGpt about this, and it looks like Google , finally, somehow 'recognized' that my forum is real discussion forum. Although I already had traffic to the forum ( even more than to my actual blogposts, which I always found so weird), it somehow now 'appreciates' my discussion forum , and takes it more seriously.
If you followed along with Google's updates a bit, you might have noticed how Google prioritized forums (reddit, fb groups, even Quora still) since a particular update (don't remember the date of that update)
I asked here if I should somehow 'fake' interaction on my forum, but I only did that once, with 1 email adres. In the meantime,one other person introduced himself on my forum, which seemed non-spammy and so I allowed it and responded to. Were those 2 the 'trigger' for Google to finally recognize that my forum is 'active'? I honestly have no darn clue, as ever hahahaha
Anyway, I am - carefully - optimistic: I know, I've been there before lol
Let's see what the next weeks will bring, because I am also reading stuff about AI taking over search completely in the near future.
But, I still see lots of my posts ranking that have NO AI-overview answer, simply because AI can't write DIY dollhouse tutorials, for example.
So the thing is to have Chat GPT also find out about things to write about that the AI overview won't be able to answer and write about that! preferably on your own forum- lol !
( I'd be so curious about what Partha would say about this, havent found anyone else on socials who'd be even remotely interested in this, not even the big GURUs, with their repetitive nonsense. Sorry, not sorry)

That's great news you're seeing a bit more google love. I did read somewhere that this update might be correcting some of the wrongs they made last time to genuine, useful websites.
How they can tell the difference between well crafted AI content and human written, I don't know but they do have the largest dataset and resources out there, so if anyone can do it, google can.
I mentioned in another thread that I'm seeing a lot more lower DA domains on page one now so maybe they're mellowing their stance a bit.
I just logged into my GSC after, maybe, 6 months ... seems my website finally died a death in early May this year. 2 clicks in 3 months. Lol.
But then I've done zero work on the site for 9 months so not surprising really 🙂
Anyway, congrats Lizzy ... keep plugging away and keep us posted!

@ohnoo_not_her yes they actually emailed me three times. Saying my pages had been de-indexed 1, then two that it was a mistake, then three that there was an error in indexing my pages. Man Google can walk off a cliff. They fired.
@keydah_keys I can imagine! For my second niche, I've fired them a long time ago hahahaha. But my mini site seems to come back. I think it is because some of the tutorials and reviews and topics I have, can't show up in AI overview. So I 'might' be one that survives (a bit lol) . Also e e-commerce sites seemed to survive and local SEO. But ALL of them lost a lot of traffic in the first place since HCU 2023, just not forums like Reddit, and sites like Forbes, those can still rank for about anything.It's ugly .
@keydah_keys did you have to manually resubmit your pages, or did they just re-index?
@rohanm no Google wants me to manually reindex each page. Ill move over to Microsoft Bing before I deal with Google again lol 😆

The update is over now (finished on July 17th) so things should settle over the next 2-4 weeks.

@rohanm yeah, read it too! So it stabilized, and then today it went up again. Still not convinced hahaha. I'm trying not to let it have me obsessing over it, been there before, ugh.

There was nothing wrong with my site until this dumb update. Y’all deindex my site and wants me to fix it. The answer is no! While rolling my beautiful brown eyes 🙄
@keydah_keys That's odd you only got these messages after the update. This is an automated email though ... it'd be worth identifying which pages have the alleged redirect. It might be an easy fix.
@rohanm I understand that it is an automated response to an error Google caused. I haven’t added any redirects but will check it out.

@rohanm I’m going through all of their excuses and none lines up. Especially not having a site map. That is a trash excuse because I took my time and added a site map to each page.
@keydah_keys Are you sure this is from a trustworthy source? If so, you should see the same messages in the GSC itself. These kind of messages I get in GSC plenty of times, but I never get actual emails about it. Neither do I ever "correct" something, I've been there and it is a waste of time. (only 404 errors) Only unless your website loads very slow can that still be a reason for Google to put you out of the game completely. (it happened to me before the HCU update, when Ezoic installed their ads all over the place , without my consent and I couldn't correct it in time )
PPS: that's when I also found out that WA's hosting sucks - lol .

@ohnoo_not_her lol 😂 wa hosting is even worst now. However I am going through all of the notifications I got from Google and it’s still bull crap. The excuses they are giving me for deindexing my entire website is a farce. Especially when it comes to site maps. Because I personally added each site map to google console one by one. And had to wait two to three days for each to be approve.
@ohnoo_not_her like site maps, they are saying there’s no site maps on a lot of of those 48 pages. And I’m looking at another page showing site maps approved 38. 🙄. It’s the baby web dev in me that’s going to be annoyed enough to look into a way of fixing this because the excuses don’t line up. I’ll report back in a day or so. Even though I said I wouldn’t fix it 😆
@keydah_keys To not stress you out this much, I would somehow 'unsubscribe' for those mails then- lol. It doesn't even matter anymore these days with google just being too much up-and-down, whatever you do.

Only the 404 errors.
As you can see, I have 19 404-errors, wow panique! hahahaha
But no, most of these, are from my forum, Google doesn't index a lot of these anyway, just randomly indexes forum posts. And there's basicly nothing I can do or change to force those posts being indexed.
I can't imagine that you have a lot of 404 errors?
So again, I wouldn't really worry about that. As you're not 'working for Google anymore', why would it matter anyway?
With my Africa site, I havent checked indexing in a long time, I don't care anymore, because my focus is on getting traffic through Facebook (and maybe some other socials) to this niche.
And while you're doing that, you might even "get lucky", and get indexed and ranked in Google again.
But basicly, I am writing about whatever the heck I want (sure, I have some longtail keywords in the back of my head still and still write topic clusters), but really don't care anymore what Google thinks. And you know what? it works - lol
@ohnoo_not_her lol 😂, well it annoyed me so I went and looked. 38 post de-indexed although the email said 48. I dugged deeper just to see they reindexed 10.
I checked all of my pages and for the most part the main issue was there was a no index meta tag for most and one had a access forbidding (403). So, i fixed that. Went back to my website to see if their was a "no index" tags on either page and guest what?!
There were zero! 🙄 Lying Google!😂😂😂 Either way. I corrected what i could because this annoyed me. I submitted a reindex. Just for kicks and giggles. I have a way around this foolishness. By hosting my links directly on Linktree. Where there is a will there is a way.
