Hmm not sure what this WA you all keep mentioning is, I have no idea what you are talking about, I am just a Refugee from "You Know Where"...I couldn't possibly be talking about anywhere specific...that would be Libelous!

Bing is just the perfect example of how they are bluffing, I was told on multiple occasions to focus on getting more Bing Traffic, they are even running some training on it, but there is no way to do this, it's all automatic, same as Google, you just put the content up and their crawlers do the rest.

SEO for Bing is the same as SEO for Google, the only thing you can do is submit any content for crawling but at best that speeds things up, but probably makes no effin difference. Question them and it's just tumbleweeds.

I do understand why they refuse to admit it, basically, they don't have an answer...but who does? What can we do...that's easier to accept as I have no choice, they are carrying on as if it's all ok, basically to keep the new members rolling in when there is almost no chance of real success

Take a look at the current success stories...more tumbleweeds there...

Google literally took aim at EXACTLY their customer's throats and systematically executed them, but it was just business as usual their end.

and @timothyballa It's not that it didn't work out...I was at "You Know Where" for 8 YEARS!

I made just shy $2million in Affiliate Sales and built a thriving and popular Travel Site in a horrifically competitive Niche, allowing me to travel the world and live a scarcely believable life, it most definitely "worked out"

It's just last September Google pulled the plug, destroyed my site, and "you know who's " answer was just to  keep doing the same, but focus on Bing, and use our crappy AI writer, all is fine...there is no recipe for success there, not anymore, at least not for now until they get their heads out their A$$@$

That's before we mention their seriously flawed Hosting, moving away from that has been a real eye-opener, I honestly didn't know how bad it was until I saw my site running on WPX...Huge long-standing bugs that "You Know Who" refused to accept were their fault simply vanished overnight...poof

Honestly, I wish them the best and hope they find a way out of this, but I think their days are numbered... without the myriad of Success Stories who is going to believe them that their system works??? .. whoever "they" are...

@sgreg sorry Steve ... didn't mean to snap at you!

Thank you for posting your story above. That's an impressive affiliate income. It must hurt getting slapped in the face that hard by Google.

There is a way forward though ... Parasite SEO 😉

@rohanm Don't worry all good,

To be clear that's Affiliate sales, not commission, still, I got a good % of that so it is still pretty painful and what's worse is it's slammed the door on our awesome jet-set life where we traveled the world seeing some awsome places and doing some incredible things, now stuck in Rainy old England doing bar work to make the mortgage payments!

I am still on the edge about parasite SEO, I know it can work but it's just so black hat, and doomed to fail in the longer term, I have other plans, centered around a more traditional online business, powered by YouTube, and absolutely focussing on authenticity and actually BEING in the places we promote, AI is never going to do that and that is always going to be the biggest threat to the blogging world

But travel has such an advantage there as AI can't travel and people will want authentic opinions not regurgitated garbage, and Video PROVES authenticity (at least for the next decade...)

But god-damn video is time-consuming, it takes me 3-4 times longer to make a basic 10-minute video on a subject as it would to write a far better more detailed blog on the same matter...still, got to get back to travelling!

@sgreg If you would travel around all the time, then yes a travel vlog could really work, but if you're like me and only can go once or twice (I want to go more to Africa next year), it won't go anywhere. I only created a Youtube channel for my Africa site, as another good backlink

The other day, I read a few tips for vlogging, to get views and comments and such (did you know it is not always about the quality of your videos, so you don't need expensive equipment): try saying something wrong, hahahahaha.
Like "this waterfall is that high", and then give a wrong number. People want to correct you, engagement hahahahaha! People always want to say that someone on the internet is wrong hahahaha.

Or I had a very low quality verticle short video on Youtube, about a time we crossed the border to Lesotho, and the roads were that bad, that we needed to turn back with our rental 2x4 wheel drive. Just showed briefly the road and commented how bad it was.

Then this guy got all mad "these fucking tourists, she didn't cross the border, there is no one around there in the video, I sometimes have to wait in line for hours to cross the border". I didn't mention WHERE we crossed the border, it wasn't the main border at all lol. People get defensive about their country, which means engagement hahaha! Just a tip lol

I was fairly active (Sgregcrx), but only posted on occasion really, I spent more time working on my Website! I had a few Sucess Stories on there and posted when I was disgruntled about something lol But never really posted enough to get silenced, got pretty close at some points though, but have a clever way of phrasing things as questions (that have no good answers) so it doesn't sound as much like criticism!

My YouTube vlog is not really an Idea, it's a thing with 200+ videos and plenty of fancy equipment, and exciting travel destinations already documented. We like to travel AT LEAST 2 times a year, last year we spent a month in Hawaii, we have a lot of experience knowledge, and content created around our travels, it's just getting the content out to people.

It's doing quite well but I have always struggled for subscribers to get paid, I get loads of traffic and view time, 8000 hours last year and 500+ views a day, which is still small...tiny really, but growing all the time, the subscribers stay stubbornly under the 1000 threshold though...

The new idea is not just a Vlog, it's integrating that vlog (and a new Blog) into a more, but modernized, Travel Agency style of business. We do the things on YouTube and then help others plan and execute their trips. We work with some pretty advanced Booking platforms so we can offer some really nice travel discounts and perks. For example, our next trip is to visit New York on an unreasonably low budget, as we get these great travel perks, and then book similar trips for others, and back this with Travel Groups on Facebook, content on the Blog, and the huge catalog of travel guides we created for our original HCU hit blog

Honestly, it's an amazing idea...but I have no idea if it will ever see any REAL traffic, but it's what Google wants, a real business and brand,

My best-performing videos are my flight reviews, and as you say, they create a load of "opinion" and that drives good and bad comments, but all comments are good for the channel, right?

PS are we allowed to post links in here???

you bet! My first channel is about creating miniatures, and at one time I had a lady saying that I didn't want to 'help her out', while everything that is crafted there, is shown really step-by-step, can't go any deeper then that actually. And she was sayin: 'ill just look elsewhere". I was like: ok, I don't care, your opinion.

Then I was like: let's take this comment to Facebook and ask in a group if her comment was 'fair'? You should have seen the engagment and views for that video hahahahahahahaha! That was great lol.

I think so, I do it all the time lol

Looks really great Steve! Some constructive criticism ... just something that stood out to me. The text is difficult to read on some of the thumbnails. Might be worth adding a thicker text border.

Otherwise, this looks like a great start to the channel.

I have recently watched a YouTuber go from less than 500 subs to 10k in under a year. He's now doing it full time so it's definitely as good a business model as any!

Good luck with it 🙂

Nice work so far. I have a Youtube channel that is bigger as well, my miniature channel, which I am already monetizing, but it is frankly peanuts per month (about 35$ now) . https://www.youtube.com/@everythingverysmall   (ad income on Youtube depends on the niche as well, one niche is higher then the other apparently, which is another way from Google to actually say: you're worth less then someone in another niche , ugh)

But, as Partha confirmed to me, it is because of spreading out my info all over socials during the years, that I probably recovered from the HCU update. (this includes Youtube, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, some reddit even and Medium).

I am now at a traffic level that is nearing the traffic I had before the sept 23 update, but as a total. A lot of traffic of that is now from Pinterest, some from newsletter and Youtube, and it was a tiny bit from Facebook (where I got banned UGH), and others like Bing and even chatGPT. So I will never get the total traffic back from just Google, that is the past.

The thing is that we need to be everywhere with our blog, and it is impossible to do with just one person or without automation, frankly.

For Pinterest, I am now using AI pin automization, I spend a day or 2 on 2 sites, set everything up, and just will upscale it further in the course of the comming months.

Good luck getting back in the game!

Me too! I'm counting down the days to the shortest day of the year, when we can begin to feel hopeful of a return of the sunshine, sometime in the distant future 😎

Please keep us posted. There are some excellent AI tools for turning your videos into quality blog posts pretty much instantly. You might as well re-purpose your hard-worked-at videos and fire out a blog post on auto-pilot too.

You see this is the thing with HCU and the whole way Google has destroyed the internet...what would be the point?

Seriously, My site has been demolished, even the minimal effort of using AI to write up a blog post based on my video would be entirely wasted time as nothing posted in my site will rank anywhere.

This is what infuriates me about the head-in-the-sand approach of "you know where" Their entire model is set up to walk people into Google's HCU Death Knell! The HCU update was entirely geared toward killing off all small affiliate sites with little mercy for any good content swept away in the massacre.

Unless there is a sea change approach from Google, small content publishing is dead, yes there are Black Hat hacks like Parasite SEO that will work for a while, but they will get hammered too, eventually.

Sorry for the gloom and hopelessness, as I said I am starting a new site with a totally different approach and those quick wins from AI might help that along as it will NOT be reliant on Google Traffic, as I have no faith Google will return any sizable traffic to small publishers such as ourselves.

I will defiantly keep you all updated

As for the Thumbnail Text, I am currently in the process of using YouTubesSplit Testing on those and will keep refining things to see what really worked and doesn't...Maybe I am just putting TOO much text in the thumbs, but the split testing will show this for sure...
