@diane Interesting topic. I think that modern books lack vibration and energy compared with classic, time-proven books. If you read Lord of the Rings, you will not find crime or sex scenes like in modern books. Nowadays, books have no resonance with readers because authors lack fantasy or do not live their heroes' lives deeply. Could you look at modern fairy tales? It is a joke. H.Ch. Anderson or the Brothers Grimm will live forever because of their magic and ability to touch children and adults.

The classics were detailed accounts of eventful and sometimes uneventful occurrences that weaved you down into the depths, where you felt like you were there...
Modern stories don't seem to have the same depth, not like the classics. They were story driven. You went on a journey with the author...
Ah, yes, the classics live on, an experience that lingers, even as I write this, flashes of past readings come to mind...
